Anyone ever used a Winter Duck Plug to avoid draining water for winter for blowing lines off? See http://www.leaktools.com/products/winterizing_plugs for explanation.
I'm curious if this actually works as advertised...

should have known there was such a beast out there but never looked..i love the idea of not having to drain 7 or 8,000 gallons out of my pool each winter as i currently do. what i would be concerned about if it fails..the small savings on my water bill and such would be quickly offset by the cost to replace pipes around and under my pool!
We've used those for 4 years now with no problems at all.
(I'll admit, my husband did a fair amout of worrying the first year!)
as would i...i guess the issue more so with me isn't the draining.but do it myself..i'm always tempted, but always give in and let the pool guys close my pool (i open myself) if they cause any problems due to freezing, they are bonded and insured..i'm not![]()
LOL. I call my service guy to close as well, for the same reason, and my worry is nothing compared to my wifes... which leads to more stress for me...Originally Posted by tenax
my wife appreciates that i am willing to try just about anything once (roofing my 3700 square foot root with 4 valleys, renoing my kitchen, building my pool shed, chopping down trees, raising my garage roof where it sank, repairing my water heaters).but she also appreciates that sometimes trying to do everything can cost me more than i would have saved..sometimes, a lot more![]()
