Default can't get the water clear

    Hey there,

    First post for me here.

Have a small 12' round pool for my boys.
Got neglected over the holidays and and was full of algae.

I put an algecide in the pool and it rid the "allergy" as my son said ha,ha , but I cannot get the water to clear up.

I have shocked it twice and according to my pool tester, have used some ph down chemical but nothing is working to clear up the water.

    Any ideas?

If you could post your testings numbers, that would be helpful.
in the meantime, Can you keep your chlorine level high? ( or does it drop quickly?)
Keeping the chlorine high for a few days should help the water to clear up ( unless something else is going on, hence the need for the testing results)

    Good Luck

    will post numbers asap.

Can tell you that the chlorine stays for a while and don't have to top up often.

PH is staying high and ph down chemical is moderatley helping.

    Thanks

I'm sure we can help you clear it up, but we need test results from a drop-based kit (not strips) for Cl, pH, alk, and CYA. Also, what form of chlorine are you using?

The trick to clearing it up is going to be to raise your Cl to shock level (what that level is will be determined by your CYA level) and hold it there until the algae dies, which will mean testing for Cl and adding more to get back to shock level at least 2-3 times a day. Once the algae dies, your filter will take it out--may take a few days with the filter running 24/7, but it will clear up.
