First, with a 15,000 gallon pool (guessed on this) and an 8 hour turnover, you only need about 30 GPM. At 60 feet of head and a 3/4 HP motor, you will get about 50 GPM so turnover is not an issue for you. The only issue is if you have any of the features mentioned below and running on a single pump:
Spa
Water features (fountains, waterfalls, etc)
Suction or pressure side cleaner
If so, this may force you to a higher HP pump but then I would go with a two speed pump.
Otherwise, if you don't have any of those things then I would go with a lower HP pump as others have suggested.
The longer pipe does create more head loss but a higher HP pump will simply make the head loss more. So if you don't need the high flow GPM, then the lower HP pump will save a bundle in electrical costs.
