With long distances I would oversize the pipe to cut the flow resistance. PVC is cheap and a one time expense.

If you're still in the planning stage, you might want to reconsider the pump size. 1.5 HP on pool that size is probably overkill. I bet you can get the turnover you need with 1.0 HP and probably even a 3/4 HP.
My PB told me the 1.5hp is because its 50 feet to the pool..they are using 2" pvc..Originally Posted by KurtV

I agree with KurtV and also suggest you downsize the pump to a 1 HP and even consider a 2-speed. They're more expensive but considering the $$$ of electricity, you'll pay for it and it's much quieter too. Most of the time you would run on low speed. 2" PVC should work fine.

2" is pretty standard on residential pools but as Poconos said, oversizing to 2.5 inch at this point is pretty inexpensive and, all other things being equal, will give you more flow. That, combined with an oversized filter, will let you really downsize the pump. The smaller pump will be quieter and will consume much less electricity.

First, with a 15,000 gallon pool (guessed on this) and an 8 hour turnover, you only need about 30 GPM. At 60 feet of head and a 3/4 HP motor, you will get about 50 GPM so turnover is not an issue for you. The only issue is if you have any of the features mentioned below and running on a single pump:
Spa
Water features (fountains, waterfalls, etc)
Suction or pressure side cleaner
If so, this may force you to a higher HP pump but then I would go with a two speed pump.
Otherwise, if you don't have any of those things then I would go with a lower HP pump as others have suggested.
The longer pipe does create more head loss but a higher HP pump will simply make the head loss more. So if you don't need the high flow GPM, then the lower HP pump will save a bundle in electrical costs.
