Default A thank you to everyone...

What a great forum. I'm still too dumb to ask an intelligent question, but I'm reading and learning everyday. Our pool will be started in December (see my sig for specs) and this is a great resource for information. I'll definitely be picking up Ben's water testing kit, and using the BBB method.

    Just wanted to say thanks.

    Here's our pool plan:

Thanks Janet. My only concern is the builders choice of SWG, an A&A Manufacturing "QuikChlor." Can't find much info on this and have a feeling that's not a good thing...

Yes. That's the only information I can find. Can't find anywhere to purchase replacement parts outside of the supplier.

    This is a little missleading:

---Easy to operate controls...easy to set. Includes 24 Hour Boost Mode feature. A simple push of a button will allow the chlorinator to run at 100% chlorine production for 24 hours then automatically revert to the preset auto mode.

You do not want to use your SWCG to shock the pool ..

--Reduced maintenance time...fully automatic self-cleaning cell allows the QuikChlor Reverse Polarity(RP) feature to automatically clean itself by utilizing an advanced microprocessor.

Even with the RP function you wil still need to clean the cell. My Ecomatic has the same function but the owners manual has cleaning instructions.

otherwise it looks like your typical system. How much is the builder stabbing you for it ?

    $1400 installation/parts/salt.

Agree with the super-chlorination; I'll use bleach for that. I figured there's no such thing as "self-cleaning" anything...LOL.

Sounds like a fair price... you could buy it cheaper on -line and install yourself but then you have no one to blame if it stops working in a month

I'd be more concerned with the warranty. If it is sufficiently long, that might ease your concern. Or you might just ask for another brand. Our builder uses almost exclusively Pentair products and recommended the Kreepy Krauly vac by Pentair. I said that we wanted the Polaris and they said OK and we are getting it at no additional cost.
