    Default Horse Flies

Does anyone know how to keep these green-headed biting flies away. Theyre not around all the time, but theyre relentless when they do show up.

Kill them with a boogie board!
They come for the water, so as soon as you uncover your pool they show up.
In my experience, tehre's usually just 3-5 that show up, wait for them to land, THEN swat them with a large object, tehy're relatively slow in comparison to other flies so you can usually get them the first time, swat one usually stuns long enough to get swat 2 (the killer) in.

I took the advice of someone here on the forum and bought a set of 4 badminton racquets at wal-mart for about 7$. They work great on horseflies, and make a very satisfying "PING" when you make contact.

It turns into a game with the kids, and after a few minutes, almost all are gone.

You must be in New Jersey: Here, the Green Heads are the State Bird.
