Jenn:
Thanks for responding...the greater issues with the distributor, or the company that sold us our Aqualeader 12 x 21 oval pool, are that they did not inform us of the nutsedge issues in advance and recommended an unlicensed installer that was unqualified to excavate correctly, level correctly, install correctly and identify the potential problems with correct installation. Since my origional post I have 5-6 new nutsedge plants poking through the pad and liner and have identified dozens more ready to breach. I researched to the extent that I identified the need for certain installation proceedures to be done correctly but missed the need to treat the soil to specifically deal with invasive grasses after stripping the sod. The failure of the distributor and so-called experienced installer (30 years of experience), to inform us or identify the rampant existing growth of nutsedge around the footprint is irresponsible and negligent...and we are pursuing legal action to compensate us for loss of warranty on both the pool components, installation costs and the loss of the liner and subsequent warranty. My woman and I are joyless over the loss of our swim together and cringe every time we feel the grass poking up under our toes...let alone the total loss of our $6000.00 investment and hard work to provide landscaping and support structures around the pool.
Why this does not happen more often or is discussed in detail on this forum I do not know. It should be at least as important as any other aspect of considered installation for potential buyers. We trusted an established dealer and the recommeded installers and lost.
