Yes you can maintain your "neighborhood" pool with a Salt Chlorine Generator. It's just a matter of making sure you have enough chlorine production to maintain your desired chlorine residual under peak demand conditions.
At AutoPilot, we use the following parameters in order to determine the chlorine demand:
1) Pool Volume
2) Maximum bather load in a 24 hr period
3) Circulation pump run time
4) Indoor or outdoor location
5) Water features - what type and how many hours per day are they in operation
6) Peak water temperature
If you can provide this information, or if you can tell me what you're currently using and what your peak, single day chlorine usage is, I can recommend a system.
From there, you can research NSF approved salt systems, and what your local or state requirements are for commercial chlorination systems.
