Default The scales of ph Justice

Ah man. I feel like the kid with his fingers in a leaky dike. Just when one problem gets plugged, here comes another one. I need to lower ph and raise TA. Here are the results:

    20k IG colored plaster
    FC: 1.5
    CC: 0
    TC: 1.5
    pH: 7.9
    Alk: 100
    Cal: 190
    Cya: 50
    Temp: 78 F

So, after reading the sticky, it appears I have to add both baking soda and "ph minus". Should I adjust for ph or TA first? I assume it's futile to try fixing both simultaneously. Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers from the Sierra Foothills,

Man, I like replying to easy ones! Unless your water doesn't look right, a few small adjustments will get you close to perfect.

First, I'd get a little more chlorine in the pool. 3-6ppm is a nice range.

I'd then bring the pH down with muriatic acid. 3 pints would get you into a more normal 7.4 or so range.

Then, I'd wait about 24 hours, test pH and Alk again, and then add enough baking soda to bring your Alk up a little...shoot for 100

Thanks for posting the test results...very helpful. If you'll bring the Cl up where it needs to be and adjust the pH and Alk a little, I think your in for happy swimming the rest of the Summer
