Can I use bleach if there are still pucks in the floater

I would like to switch to the BBB method. I still have some pucks in my floater but do not want to add more to keep chlorine level stable. Can I add bleach with the floater in the pool? Do I need to take it out, and if so, what do I do with the pucks? I have read on here that the wet pucks are dangerous. All levels are great, have had pool for a couple of months and have learned through trial and error. Reading this forum has been great. I will need to add bleach or more pucks this evening so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You

Ok to add bleach with pucks left in the pool.

Just don't pour the bleach directly on the pucks

what do I do with the pucks?

I checked with the city refuse where I live, they told me I could just throw them in the trash. You can check with you local refuse center to find out how to dispose of them.

The refuse person isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. I wouldn't throw them in the trash. You may have the recipe for a fire if there are any oily rags or other hydrocarbon stuff in with them. Besides, what else if in the trash truck when they compact? Why not just use up the ones in the floater? Won't affect CYA that much. The measurement isn't accurate enough to tell. I would keep any unused pucks for when you have to raise CYA.

This is probably true, they may not be the sharpest (no offence to any refuse workers ). One would probably be better off taking them to a hazardous waste drop off site.
