Like Janet said .. It's not the pool size that is the issue, it's the filter size you need to be concerned with ... can you provide info on the filter and how many GPM ( gallons per minute ) the pump is capable of?
14'x31' kidney 21K gal IG plaster pool; SWCG (Saline Generating System's SGS Breeze); Pentair FNS Plus 48 DE DE filter; Whisperflow 1 HP pump; 8 hours hrs; kit purchased from Ben; utility water; summer: none; winter: none; PF:5.7
I'm thinking that if this is just one of the intex pool filters the bigger filter would be ok. Honestly even though my filter says its big enough for my 6000 gal frame pool I still think its a bit weak. So I'd say if its a paperfilter like that go with this kind of pool bigger is better....Kimrst
There's a big difference between an oversized filter and and oversized pump. Your original question was about the pump. If you use an oversized pump, it will ruin the filter and not do the job. A small pump and an oversized filter, though, is a different story.
Sorry that's not the answer you wanted, but it's reality.
