Need New Pump What size HP?

OK, I need a new pump, my other just burned up. I have a AG 15x30 12,000 gallons. My question is, what size pump should I get. I had a 1 1/2 HP and it seemed like it was too much. Would a 1 HO be good enough for my size pool? I really want a 2-speed pump. Anyone know a good place with a good price on a 2-speed. Thanks

The filter determines the pump. The filter's capacity must be greater than the pump's or you will damage the filter and not get good performance. Don't be wowed by HP, it's not the advantage it is in a car or a snowblower. It uses more electricity to do the same job.

2 speed pumps can be found as small as 3/4 hp, but 1 hp is more common.
