Default can i use OTO Test with high chlorine ?

to test a high TC level (say 5-10 ), can i dilute the pool water
    and multiply ?
for example, add 3 parts bottled water to 1 part pool water and multiply
    the results by 4

i have to keep it in that range due to high (80) CYA

is there some easier method i should be using for day to day measuring of TC ?

    thanks

Cool Re: can i use OTO Test with high chlorine ?

Len, you can use distilled water to make the 1:1 mix and test, then multiply results by 2 (or a 1:2 mix and mult by 3), however, when you do this you sacrifice accuracy. DPD/ FAS tests can accurately go much higher, I believe Taylor makes such a kit and, of course, Ben's 234 has that test included. If you have no other problems, the 'dilution' method should keep you in the desired range. (MBA - do a search for the "shotglass method"). If you follow the advice given on the forum, you'll save $ and have a crystal clear pool.

ps I'm assuming you've seen 'Ben's best guess chart" (stickied at the top of the 'Using chlorine..." section of the forum.

Default Re: can i use OTO Test with high chlorine ?

    thanks.
i do have the DPD/ FAS kit. i just thought OTO would save time.
i've just become familiar with Ben's best guess chart, and have started using it.
this is why i need to keep my chlorine so high.
    too much CYA !
so no more pucks, i've just started using plain old bleach.
    thanks
