Everything I learned about pools I have learned here. Unfortunately I did not find this forum until two weeks ago and did not read beyond the bare basics.

As soon as I realized that the yellow in my pool was not from the yard I turned here, found this thread and think I understand what to do now. I hate to start a new thread when this one is so good so I just want to post my numbers, tell you what I have done and see if someone will catch me if I start to fall. I have an AQUA Chem test kit I bought for $5 at the PX and will be ordering Ben's kit soon. I am rather confident of my numbers except for the TC and FC. Can they be the same? Anyway... When I came home tonight I tested the water, brushed the walls, vaccumed to waste and added 7.5 gallons of bleach 4.5gl @ 6% and 3gl @ 5.25%. I used the bleachcalc but was a gallon short of the 8.5 recommended. I will test again at 2330hrs and run buy the rest of the stores bleach in the morning.

I have not been in the pool since sometime last week, thanks to the storms we have had here, and of course I am on vacation at home until the middle of next week and it is supposed to be nice. Hopefully I will wake up to a clean pool tomorrow and I can keep it that way!

I have to say that from what I have read on this site you folks are very nice and I truly appreciate that.
