Grace has a good answer, but what escaped her was that you have an AG pool - the usual advice here is that AG and SWG don't mix (the reason being that the salt concentrations from splashout, etc will eat the metal sides of your pool - @ ~ 6000ppm, saltwater will deteriorate metal). I'm afraid I didn't quite say that clearly: if you run a SWG @ 3000 ppm salt and a 1/2" rivulet of water from the pool is running down the outside of an AG, when the water evaporates to be a 1/4" rivulet, the ppm is ~6000ppm (salt doesn't evaporate).
However, getting rid of the expensive 'Baqua-crud' is a good idea - just switch over to BBB, info is readily available in the "Baquacil..." section of the forum.
Welcome to the forum, if you do your pool the way that is advocated here, you will save $ (big bucks ). Good luck, if you need any help, the other members are here for you! - Waste

Red face Re: New and Confused

Thanks Waste for clarifying that... you are correct that it did escape me! In any case, I was thinking about the answer to the question, and not the 'should you or shouldn't you" issue, and probably would have written the same reply even if I had caught it!

I think I should stop trying to answer questions, as it seems I don't have a total grasp on things yet!

Oh, and I would like to give you credit for always seeming to notice the really newbies (first post or so) and welcoming them! You are the most consistant with that, that I have noticed.
