Default What should I adjust ?

    32,000 In Ground Vinyl
    PS 233 Kit

    FC 1
    CC .5
    TC 1
    PH 8.2
    Alk 160
    Cal 150
    Cya 40
    Temp 80

I added 1Gal and 1Qt 10% to bring a 4 part increase in the FC to acheive a 5 FC level. My CYA has come down since my last test so a 5 might be too high now. It appears my Alk and PH are way off now so I want to be sure and adjust slowly per whatever help you guys give me.

    Thanks

Bring your pH down by shooting for 7.4. 3 qts of muriatic should get pretty close. If you go over or under, it wont be by much. Your Alk will come down along with pH.

5ppm is fine for your CYA level.

That'll get all your numbers in a nice range. Happy Swimming!

    Default Black Algae

My numbers are now back in line but I have black algae starting in the spill over spa and pool steps. Should I get to a FC level of 20 and keep it there while brushing ?? Can people use the pool while I'm shocking ?? I have a bunch of people coming Friday.

    Thanks

Dave, why do say a CYA of 5ppm is okay? Aren't we shooting for a CYA of 30 to 40 in a BBB pool and 60 - 80 in a SWG pool?

He is saying that 5ppm FC is ok for a CYA level of 40.

Default Now the Alk is Up !! (What Now)

I kept the CL at 20 since yesterday and when I came home from work these are my new readings.

    FC 10.5
    CC 0
TC "Bright Yellow - Off the chart"
    PH 7.5
    ALK 180
    Temp 81

The Algea was not bad and there is no sigh of it today so I think it may be resolved. I was planning on putting my robotic cleaner in. What's up with the ALK ???

Read the "lowering Alk" sticky at the top of the Alk forum
