    How rude ....

    There is a bleach calc application that will help you . I'm sure someone will post it up soon. I will if I can find it .

    Basically one gal. of 6% ultra bleach will raise 10k gal. of water 6ppm. That said, it'll take ~6.5 gallons to raise your total chlorine level 6 ppm. Depending on your CYA (stabilizer) level, you may need to double this to shock pool---to 13 gallons. That would give you a 12ppm increase....see how the math works. If you have really high cya levels(75-100) you may need to use 20 gal. to raise it to approx. 18-20 ppm to shock. That's one big ass pool! Get some muratic acid to lower the pH also, the bleach will raise it and you want it in the 7.3-7.5 range to help chlorine work better. If you need more cya to get into the 30ish range, you can use pucks and bleach if you'd like. Just keep the cya in 30-40 ppm. good luck with the lake!

    No one can say how much bleach it'll take for a month, because you need to test water and post chlorine/cya/pH info at least. Then, depending on cya level, we can give you a good estimate on residual and shock ppm's. You may want to stop with the tabs just in case your cya level is in the 30-50 range. Once it gets much higher, you have to drain/refill to get rid of it.

    Here is the link to BleachCalc
    Get BleachCalc 2.6.2 here:http://home.earthlink.net/~mwsmith70/data/BleachCalc262.exe

    The other thing you really need is a GOOD test kit such as the Taylor K-2006. An even better 'bang for your buck' (and the one that many of the forum members use) is the PS234 sold on the forum's sister website www.poolsolutions.com

    i will take one step at a time...first i will order the test kit..i guess pucks are the same as tabs?? i use the 3" tabs from leslies...i have been using the test strips, which i know aren't that accurate...but the water has been very clear...i leave the filter on 10 hours a day(sand filter), and shock once a week ...i do notice however that there is always a high clorine level in the pool...darkest color on the test strip...maybe shocking too much?? as you can see i'm kind of ignorant...but like i said the pool is crystal clear for afew years now....

    pucks = tabs

    That is the biggest pool I've heard of! I'd love to see some pictures of it sometime.

    Find out what your CYA is, then you can use the "best guess chart" to see what level to keep your chlorine.. then you can use the bleach calc. to see how much bleach you will need to keep the pool within your target range.

    The BBB system really is fantastic, and with a pool that size I'd imagine it will save you some $$ too.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Like yours, my pool is rather large. I have 120000 and use 4 gallons daily of 10 percent bleach. I keep my Ph mid 7's and stabilizer in the 50 neighborhood.
    It's a good combination unless I miss putting in some bleach for a few days.
    One note, don't purchase all your bleach in advance. It doesn't offer a great shelf life while sitting.

    See Ya,
    Kelly
