Pool light color lens

While searching through an online pool supply site, I came across some colored lens covers for underwater pool lights. Was wondering if anyone has tried them and what you think. My light is 500W (I think - maybe 300W) and pretty much lights up the whole pool area as well. I'm thinking a colored cover would lend to a more soothing ambiance, if you will.

I call it my poor man's SAM light. Works fine and does offer a different look at night. Make sure the cover matches your brand of light so it fits properly. We got the wrong one for our spa at first. Only downside is you have to get in the water to change it.

I've tried Green and Blue - because they came with my light, I think I was supposed to get red and blue according to teh package.
The green is ugly, it makes the pool look like a big algae bloom has set in, might be good around Halloween, even then, I'd prefer blood red I think! Then again, I can't stand Green on anything except what nature makes (trees/grass etc.)
The blue looks really cool, it takes away the brightness of the bulb nicely and gives your water a really clean look - it seems to make it look like you have a darker liner - I really like the look of blue, but I'm sure, like anything it's personal preference.

I don't like the green at all, the blue looks ok, but it is not very bright, I also wanted red, I will get it someday...

But I really don't use them, just use the white one is all.

Aqualuminator, right? - I beleive it's their mistake, probably had the package printed, tehn found out the green ones were going to be WAY cheaper to produce than the red ones.
I have a feeling this is the case, only because i know that the red pigment is the most expensive for just about everything - automotive paint especially!

We like the blue so well we threw the others away. As in the original post, it does add a soothing ambience. Without it everybody thinks it's a little too bright. Tony

We too got colored lens with the spa light when pool/spa was built. Tried the green, red and liked the blue best. The spa was still too bright late at night so added a dimmer to the circuit...very nice now for the $$ spent is a upgrade I highly recommend.

yes, it is the aqualuminator. I am considering cutting in another jet opening somewhere though since now that I have it the fountain options are sort of limited. I also am not to happy about the PVC adapter, what would make a company introduce a proprietory product out into the marketplace for anyhow? Then offer an adapter so that you may use it the same way the rest of the world does? That sort of thing really irks me! But I don't mind it for flow and all, I think I need to pull it out and grease the o-ring as it is beginning to get hard to turn.

Our Hayward Astralite (500 Watt/120 volt) from 1982 came with a set of four lenses. Yellow, green, red, blue and aqua. They're neat and they work fine. Very simple - nothing fancy. I am waiting for a replacement bulb and gasket - hope it comes soon.

I believe they wanted to create a stramlined product, more along the lines of an IG product, I didn't like the 'over the wall hanger' with the niteliter, nor the fact that is sticks out so much, it seems like a far inferior product. I do however like that they gave the option for the fitting to attach a pressure side cleaner. I love their fountain and it's adjustability.
I am toying with their new LED head idea, but it is very expensive right now - even just the conversion kit - may have to retrofit my light head with a home brew.....
I have also been toying with the idea of a second jet, mainly to get better flow at the far side of my drop in steps, and I feel a 30 foot diameter pool could probably use a couple of returns, it seems my dirt falls out right beside the stairs, although it makes for an easy spot clean of a lot of dirt instead of doing the whole pool!
