I am doing a drain and light acid wash with refill later this week. With the original fill, I let the pool builder handle the start up chemistry. I feel confident enough to do it alone now. I need some advice on what sequence to adjust and add chemicals. My initial thoughts are:
1. Bleach to keep FC in a reasonable range until I can start up my SWC
2. Correct pH.
3. Add NaCl after pH is balanced, then restart SWC
Move item 3 to 6
4. Correct TA
5. Check and adjust Ca hardness (fill water is soft so I expect I will need to add)
6. Add CYA
Move item 6 to 3, and wait at least 3 weeks before adding salt.
You need to get the pool chemistry correct before you start up the SWCG, especially the CYA addition. I have much the same setup as you and am curing a new Diamond Brite replaster.
Is this reasonable or are there better ways to do this? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions and advice.
