Default Refilling - What is the sequence I should use to adjust chemistry

IG 28K Ga, SWC, Diamondbrite plaster, DE filter

I am doing a drain and light acid wash with refill later this week. With the original fill, I let the pool builder handle the start up chemistry. I feel confident enough to do it alone now. I need some advice on what sequence to adjust and add chemicals. My initial thoughts are:

    1. Bleach to keep FC in a reasonable range until I can start up my SWC
    2. Correct pH.
    3. Add NaCl after pH is balanced, then restart SWC
    4. Correct TA
    5. Check and adjust Ca hardness (fill water is soft so I expect I will need to add)
    6. Add CYA

Is this reasonable or are there better ways to do this? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions and advice.

Move item 6 to 3, and wait at least 3 weeks before adding salt.

You need to get the pool chemistry correct before you start up the SWCG, especially the CYA addition. I have much the same setup as you and am curing a new Diamond Brite replaster.

    Hope this helps.

Do you think I need to wait 3 weeks to add the salt? I am not doing a replaster - just a drain and light acid wash.

Misunderstood about the acid wash. OK, just go ahead and add the salt, but only after you have balanced the pool water chemistry.
