    Default Circulator 360

Has anyone heard of this product. It hit the shelves of my pool store this year. It is a replacement for the return jets that spins in a 360 degree circle. Pool store guys says it works great moving stuff from all levels in the pool. Wondering if anyone has actually used it.

I have only seen this product on one website that has a question and answer section from a guy named Alan and it has been promoted on there for a few years now. I have not been able to find any info about it from any other source. My concern would be how much backpressure would it introduce into the plumbing system. Similar passive circualting returns have been used in reef aquariums for a while now. Non of them have really stood up over time. Don't know if this one for pools would be any better. Calcium deposits would probably stop it from circulating, much as the ones used in aquariums tend to do with calcium buildup.
    I, for one, am skeptical.

Found this thread after a search for "Circulator"

I inquired about this devise both by phone and email. The respondent was allegedly the inventor of the product. Below is the Email trail FYI.

    Original Message:

I am wondering what effect "The Circulator" will have on filter back pressure. My 28,800 gallon pool is set up with a 1 HP super pump, Hayward Perflex DE filter to 3 jets in an ELL shaped pool (arranged on opposite sides from 2 skimmers).
Current back pressure runs about 12 PSIG without the Solar Heating System.

Also --- is there a model which dispersed at a 45 degree angle rather than
    90 Degrees?

    -----Answer-----
Hayward pumps/filter from their R & D division test the circulator,
And concluded that the circulator has little effect on back pressure.

The discharge opening is similar in size to the "D" eye ball that's
    currently used in most pools.
The angle of water discharge can be change to various degrees (45 to 90
degrees) with a deflector that I'll put in your package.

I have not tried this product. The company offered a "special deal" $25.00 per each with a 30 day money back guarantee. Just not sure I need them since it would take three in my pool.

Having only one return in my IG pool and an AG pump to boot, I looked at this thing a few years back in hopes of boosting my circulation. I was getting some mustard algae in my deep end walls, was convinced it was poor circulation. The $99+ price tag scared me off. I've since found out my problems were pool store related, not circulation.

However, for $25 I could be interested. Especially if I can direct the flow upwards and vigorously aerate my pool to help with alk issues.

Bumping this up because I am interested. I too used something similar in a saltwater aquarium and it did wonders for eliminating dead spots.

    Has anyone tried these yet?

I found the website because he is the only online source for the new LaMotte ColorQ testkit, which I am also interested in.
