SAm and SAL lights and voltage level

Pentair offers these lights in 120V and 12V models.

If cost is no object (ha!), which is more desirable?

What are the considerations of interest?

I'd be grateful for any feedback. Thanks ever so much.

actually, both the 120v and the 12v units have 12v bulbs. The 120v units have a transformer in the light housing while the 12v units use an exernal transformer so the power going into the pool is 12v.

Not my strong point but I would personally rather have 12v going into my pool than 120v. I think the difference would be in how long the electrical run needs to be. 120v might be necessary for a long run. (and you don't have the added expense of the Intermatic transformers for each light).

I have no idea about the voltage, but we have both the SAM and SAL lights and like them a lot (particularly how we can control the color from our Aqualink inside).

Actually, I have SAM, SAL and a PG2000 fiber optics illuminator in my pool/spa now. My builder has finally gotten around to finishing things and repairing the damage he did and has replaced the FiberStars uinits with the Pentair ones. From what I have seen I like them (The colors are more pastel then the FiberStars units and the color wheels turn slower...a more pleasing and relaxing effect)
