Default Heat Pump or traditional heater???

We are putting in an inground liner pool. Should we use a heat pump or a traditional 250,000btu heater to keep the water warm. We live in Buffalo, NY and the swim season runs from about May through September.

The heat pump will cost more to buy than a gas heater, but will save you quite a bit of money in operating costs. I have had my heatpump in Northern NJ for eight years and am very happy with it.
