Baking soda is cheapest at Sam's Club. Borax can be bought anywhere you get laundry detergent. Calcium Chloride is used to melt ice and to add weight to tractor tires, so a hardware store/big box home improvement store in cold climate or a tractor tire dealer.

Buy Baking Soda at Wal Mart or Sam's in the 12 lb. re-sealable bags at around $5 is about the best deal I've seen. Borax can also be found at Wal Mart or the Grocery Store. Calcium Chloride can be found at some Hardware Stores but It seems to me around here, the best price is actually at the pool store.

Calcium Chloride, isn't that salt? Shouldn't you use water softener salt? That does bring up an interesting thing though.

Actually if you go to the Dow Chemical website they have a page on pool/spa use for DowFlake calcium chloride, which is usually sold in hardware stores as a road de icer!
    http://www.dow.com/calcium/app/poolspa.htm

Also, here is a calculator to convert from the flake form of calcium choride (DowFlake or the type sold in pool stores) to the pelletized form which is more concentrated and seems to be more redily available
    http://www.dow.com/calcium/product/calcspc1.htm
They are one of the largest manufacturers of calcium chloride and I will bet that most of the pool calcium increasers are just repackaged DowFlake. DowFlake is MUCH cheaper than a pool calcium increaser!
