Actually if you go to the Dow Chemical website they have a page on pool/spa use for DowFlake calcium chloride, which is usually sold in hardware stores as a road de icer!Originally Posted by sevver

They are one of the largest manufacturers of calcium chloride and I will bet that most of the pool calcium increasers are just repackaged DowFlake. DowFlake is MUCH cheaper than a pool calcium increaser!

Retired pool store and commercial pool maintenance guy.
Lowes also carries calcium increaser much cheaper than the pool stores.
