    About rasing the Alk do you mean regular baking soda?

    Where would I get the baking soda and Borax?

    Yes, regular baking soda that you can buy at the grocery store, you can also buy borax in the grocery store by the clothes washing aisle. I recommend you go to the "Pool Solutions" web site - there is a whole list of swimming pool tips to read through. This site is good because it explains what you can buy from a grocery store that is the same that is sold at a pool store for much cheaper.
