    Default Installing new pump

I had a problem with my 1HP whisperflo so I am replacing it with the exact same model. Installation seems to be very easy but I think the local code requires me to use a certified electrician. Is this something that I should do myself or should I call an electrician?

    Where are you?
I can imagine for a new installation or new pool construction you would, but I wouldn't think for a replacement that you would.
Have you checked with your local pool store? They should know for sure. For the most part, an equivalent pump replacement is easily done...if you're comfortable with electricity.
Above all, if you end up doing the work yourself, make sure you turn off and secure the circuit breaker box before you work on it.

Maybe I misunderstood the code. I do understand if it where a new construction but not a replacement.

I am going to do it myself. I dont have any problems working with electric.
