Okay you guys and gals. I have been posting about my high CYA (100) levels and have decided to drain and refill to correct.
But I am not sure about how much salt to add back to the pool. I have notes from the pool builder that a 40 pound bag will raise it 500 points. But then I found a chart that came with the Aquarite and it said that a 12,000 gallon pool will only need 13 pounds of salt to bring it up to 3200 ppm. So that doesn't make any sense to me. I know that the guy who set up the pool added several bags of salt. My pool is about 12,000 gallons (inground, plaster).
Does anyone have a good rule of thumb for the amount of salt?
Right now I am using the Aquarite diagnostic utility to know the salt level. Maybe there is a better test for that? It is all I have now.
THANKS!
