Default New pool, either AquaRite or Intellichlor

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I just received all my pool equipment and they should start installation on Monday (weather permitting). It is 18x38 Roman End @31k gal. Per my contract I was suppose to get the Intellichlor IC40, but looking at my packages it seems I received the AquaRite. I think the Aqua is a little cheaper and I have not discussed this with my builder yet. Any recommendations between either one of these? I searched the forum and the internet and have not found too much conclusive. The Intellichlor does states @10,000 hrs of use per cell, but the AquaRite did not state any estimates.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Joe

There both good units. The AquaRite has been around a lot longer. Pentair claims they made the IntelliChlor after looking at the strengths and weaknesses of the other brands. That's what I'd expect them to say.
I have the IntelliChlor. I chose it mainly because I have the IntelliTouch controller and I wanted everything to be the same brand. So far I am very happy with the unit.

Whatever you get, try and and get the largest cell you can so you can run the cell at a lower output and make it last longer. I have a 20,000 gal pool and I use the IC40 (40,000 gal cell). I only run the output at 40% for 5ppm chlorine. I assume if I bought the IC20 instead, I would have been running it at 80%+ for the same output.

    Good Luck

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't planning on getting the Intellitouch. Should I feel I am being shorted $ wise by getting the AquaRite in place of the Intellichlor?

The price difference isn't that much when you compare the cost of the pool. But wouldn't hurt to mention it to your builder and see if you can get something out of it.

And the replacement cells for the Aquarite are cheaper than the Intellichlor since all the electronics aren't built into the cell. I don't know why Pentair says this is an advantage to their cell.

I just put an aqua rite on my pool because it was about $200 cheaper then the pentair.
