Unhappy Too much algaecide added in error

I know I have made a boo-boo. Now what are the consequences. My water was clear and all the numbers were looking good but as a preventive measure I decided to added a algaecide. I have poured a galon on algaecide in my 18x4 intex pool-approx 5500 gallon pool. I see on the directions to add only 13 oz per 5000 gallons. I just looked and the pool is cloudy, can t even see the bottom. I am brand new at all this. How long will it take to clear up and also have I done something that will hurt the pool??? Thanking you in advance for any help.

I did the same thing in our Intex Easy Set pool 18 x 4', but it was on purpose, because the water got cloudy all of a sudden. I am new to this board (and pool life) as well. Our water was cloudy because (we think) it has been really warm here this week, in So. Calif. Right now, the Free Chlorine setting is 5-10 ppm (maxed out on the water test unit). At this time, I am running the pump constantly, removing and rinsing the "B" pump filter each day. I can only wait for the Free Chlorine setting to go down. I do not intend to add any more chemicals for this immediate problem. If it does not clear up, my plan is to drain water from the bottom outlet while adding new water at the same velocity to prevent the pool from collapsing. I try to use a minimum of different chemicals.....one brand of chlorine, one type of super-shock and one type of ph-raiser. After this is resolved, I might try using a different type of chlorine instead of the chlorine tablets in a floating device.

To follow up...my pool is crystal clear now. Just keep the pump running constantly during daylight hours. Bob R.
