Default New SWG and 300 CYA problem

Newbie here from 112 degree Phoenix.
I have had a clorine pool and have been proud of the condition I kept it in.
Just had a topline SWG installed. They added 120lbs pool salt. The "purple stuff" and an algecide.
The problem is that I now have CYA at 300.
Any ideas on what caused this?
    Is it dangerous?
    What should I do?
    Regards
    Mark

How are you determining the CYA is 300? Melamine precipitation tests for CYA are not accurate above 100 ppm unless the sample is diluted. If the test was done with a test strip they cannot be trusted to give a precise reading. Get the water tested with a liquid test for CYA.

as an aside, what size pool do you have? unless you have a really small pool, 120 lbs of salt sounds low

Mark: When you get your CYA numbers back from testing, could you also post how you chlorinated your pool prior to installing the SWG?
