Question about pool steps

I don't know if this counts a construction but... here goes...

We have to get swimming pool steps put in our pool. The thing is we have an inground pool and we can't have steps added so we have to buy those plastic steps you put in your inground pool and to weigh them down you add sandbags to them inside.

My question is has anyone ever had to buy them? Are they worth it? Are they safe? Do you like them?

Any other info would be great also.

I have been looking for reviews online and I can't find any for the actual steps. Any help would be great.

You could have some cement or block steps built on the inside and then when you order the new liner have it custom made to fit the steps you have built. That is what I did with my new vinyl lined pool.

Poolio, welcome Us7sail mentioned retrofitting steps when you need the liner replaced, let me just add that steel steps (made out of the same material as metal pool walls) are available they fit in the corner of the pool, if you'd like more info, just let me know and I'll find out who we get ours from and get back to you (* I'm not trying to sell them, just informing that they exist) We install 3 - 7 sets per year, it's not hard to do once you get the hang of it.
If you're not looking at a liner replacement in the near future, the drop in steps are fine as long as you can secure them to the deck (and of course use the sandbags) - though they do tend to be an algae incubator. if ya want. I have a set of drop in steps that I have never used. I could let em go cheap. Where are you? It would be local pic up only of course....

I bought a drop in step for my IG liner pool this year. I decided to buy one for my 65 year old mother and my neices and nephews to use. They all like it.

It was also a way for my dogs to get out if they fall in while I am gone. It took them a couple of times before they would head for the steps instead of the side. I just practice it again with them last night. Neither one likes being in the pool .

The step "gives" or "bounce" more than I like but overall I am glad I bought it. The pad tends to slide out some but it is pretty easy to get it back in place. I have good flow back into the pool where the steps are so I don't have any algea problems with mine.

I plan on putting the built in kind under the liner when I replace the liner in a year or two.
