Default White (cloud like) marks on pool surface

    Hi All
Im new to this but have an issue with my 18month old pool. Its a salt pool with a colored blue quartz plaster. Issue is that literally weeks after it was installed i started noticing white cloud like markings covering the plaster, close up it looks like a chystal build up. Some areas more prominent than others.
I did after 6 months have an acid wash which improved it for a short time but the problem started again.
The company who installed it Robertsons pools in Dallas, refused to do anything about it or even tell me what the problem was or might be.
I have kept all the chemicals balanced.
My freinds had the same plaster but are not salt pools and have no problem.
Does anyone have the same problem? could this be salt causing my problem.
    Hope someone can help.

    Carl,
    (great name, BTW! )

You need to have your salt level tested. I'm guessing you have too much salt for the SWG. But that's just a W.A.G (Wild ... Guess).

HOWEVER, what you also need to do is post your test results. It could be too high levels of calcium. It could be other things. But without posting test results no one will be able to do more than guess. We find all the time that what some people (especially pool services) considered "balanced" chemicals we consider to be anything but.

Have a pool store test your water if you don't have a kit capable of the the following tests:
    FC Free Chlorine
    CC Combined Chloramines
    pH
    Tot Alk
    CYA Stabilizer
    Calcium
    Salt
    Copper
    Iron

Don't buy anything just yet--just post them and how many gallons your pool contains (approx).

I assume by "salt pool" you mean you use salt water chlorination. If so, contact the manufacturer of the SWG (salt water generator) and ask their tech support people what it could be, and what tests you can do to help them determine it.

    Hope this helps.
