Has anyone ever used Richards Total Backyard Solutions in Hosuton Texas![]()
No, but they are preparing a bid for me even as we speak.

I have contracted them and I must admit my first impression was that they were very professional and organized. I searched around for almost 2 years looking at every pool builder I could find and I decided that they were the ones. I checked them with the BBB and spoke with several other people and they recieved rave reviews. They are not the cheapest in fact almost the highest in my case, but I figured I would rather pay a little more for peace of mind...well I am getting a little nervous.
We contracted them on June 20th...to date, the only progress is the pool layout done in my backyard. I have been staring at sticks in the ground for two weeks. I have heard horror stories about the pool industry and I am wondering if I am about the live out a script??
I think the only horror story that you are likely in for is that which is associated with having a pool built during the busy time of year.
You are probably right but my only beef with that is the fact that I told them I wanted to wait until the fall for that very reason and they assured me that they would be prompt and on time.
Actually I am not that upset about the timing as much as I am the lack of communication to let us know what is going on. Example: If you tell someone you are going to call them on Monday to give them an update then call them...even if you dont have any information I still think it is curtious and professional to follow through with your actions!
Forgive me for rambling...
Not sure if this is too helpful either but a house down the street from mine (Kingwood, TX) had a pool installed a few months ago by that builder. I dont know the homeowners but did see the Richards Total Backyard Solutions sign out front...
Ready2Swim- It took my city 6 weeks to get the permit. Deposit on May 9th - they started the dig about 3 business days after they got the permit. I think they dug June 21st. Do you have a permit yet?
Everything has been really right in a row - except we had the first inspection delayed (the city again), and then a lot of rain right before the shotcrete, with a cave-in that had to be repaired.
This week has been the first one where we haven't had any movement - but then again it is good to have the concrete cure for about a month before they install the finish - so I am not complaining.
So according to the "schedule" we are about a week behind - not too bad - I expected about 16 weeks from contract to swim (which would be the beginning of Septmeber) - and now I think they may be done in the middle of August - so closer to 14 weeks.

We actually got the permit within 3 days of them filing it...they just took a long time to file it. The permit is now issued and I did finally recieve confirmation that they are going to dig either tomorrow or Monday...I think I was just getting worried that I was going to get into one of those horror story situations. I have heard so many of them that I am watching everything to make sure I dont let anything slip by. I refuse to pay a premium to get screwed.Originally Posted by Simmons99
However, now that the coordinator is involved it seems like things are going much smoother. In the last 48 hours all of the utilities have been marked and the coordinator has at least made contact with me to get some movement going. Maybe I judged a little too soon?
I am glad you are having a better experience - I was pretty time cautious before the dig started - now I am more neighbor cautious (you can check out my post in off topic)
