You can add calcium while the chlorine level is elevated, just wait an hour between dosing different chems. With the pump running, I will broadcast it across the deep-end and then help stir up the water with the leaf net or by jumping in. The calcium should dissolve within a couple hours so backwashing should not be a problem (besides losing some calcium in the water you dump). Also, I do not think it matters when you add your calcium but I would probably add 3/4 of the total you need and then wait a few hours, test and add the rest as needed.
