Yes, you might still see some pH drift upward, but if it does and you get to a pH of 7.4-7.5 with your TA of 80, then I would expect the drift to slow down to the point it is manageable or maybe even seem to stop. Keep me posted and let me know what happens. If the drift is slower, but still too much to your liking, you can still go a little further down in TA to 70 or even 60 if you like, but I wouldn't go any further down than that. I suspect that 80 will be fine for you, but don't try to keep the pH at 7.2 (7.4-7.5 should be fine) unless is naturally doesn't drift upward anymore.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Thanks.

At this point I plan to let it drift wherever it wants. If it settles in below 7.8, I'm fine with that.

I hope it does. This will be a great learning experience for next year, when I can try to get my alk down to 80 or below right off the bat.

    Thanks for all your help

I planned to add about 2" of water yesterday to make up for evaporative losses.
Started the hose while I was doing some yardwork, completely forgot about it until I came out later to add bleach. Water level was just under the coping, a good bit higher than I wanted to add.

Set valve to waste and brought the level back down so the skimmer would function. Wanted 2" of water, ended up with about 6"+. Will have to test today to assess the ALK damage and start working my way back down...

    I am such an idiot.

    I tested last night.

    PH was 7.6
Alk was... no idea. I ran out of reagent after 4 drops...

For what's left of this season, I just plan to monitor PH and knock it down to 7-7.2 every time it hit's 7.8+.

Next year I'll buy more alk reagent, as I use the most of it by far.
