Default Today is the day to choose....

Well today is the last day to finally choose which way to go.

Either chlorine setup w/ ZeoBrite or the Aqua-Rite SWG w/ZeoBrite.

    Last night:

We talked to our builder about swg and chlorine setup and he keeps pushing us to chlorine setup w/ ZeoBrite and tells me that its a waste to spend that extra $800.00 for the SWG and also assured me that Chlorinator is the way to go and it is truely easy to maintain and have a clear pool. /

So what I did was called a couple of pool service companies in the area and they claim they hated the SWG. Maybe it makes me wonder honestly why?!?!?! From their stand point they say it errodes/corrodes everything in its way for examble waterfalls or sheer archs b/c of the metal material it ismade out of. From my stand point maybe they are saying that b/c now the average JOE can maintain their pool w/o the rescue of the Service pool boy and his fee's/charges. Any idea maybe this is why?

From all I hear on here SWG is the way to go.

Here in central Texas I never had to put lotion on my body b/c of its humidity level. So while we play in the pool at my friends house which is chlorine eveytime I get out, I feel itchy and dry skin espically on my back and arms.
I feel like I was living back in Colorado, lol. Lotion was my best friend out there.

So help me push to get me in the right direction if SWG is honestly the way to go.

    Thank Ya!!

Also in addition we'll be getting the Sta-Rite 1.5hp pump (one speed), one serenity garden waterfall and one of those cheapo move around little water fountains:

    Serenity garden waterfall:

    Cheap'O water fountains:

All this in a Vinyl Liner pool which will be 17'x33' Grecian style pool.

    Thanks

I am in the exact same situation as you. Our pool is dug, walls built, waiting for liner but still haven't decided on Chlorinator or SWCG.

I've asked the corrosion question on this forum and no one here seems to think it's a legitimate concern.

I want to spend the extra dough on the SWCG but my builder is not recommending it. He says they used to put in a lot of them and now they are seeing the corrosion and rusting issues on pools that are only 5-6 years old.

He knows I'm not buying chemicals from him (his store is an hour away) and he is a friend of a friend so I feel like he is being honest and basically taking less money to make this recommendation so I trust him....I'm just frustrated because everyone who has the SWCG loves it.

Sorry, not an answer for you. More of the same question I guess.

jeffski, it's all good. Well just prey for more commets if 'we' should aboard the SWG clan

BTW... did you or are you going to choose more of the lighter or darker color vinyl colors?

I was told the darker colors (blue) will make your pool look more blue like the blue sea in Hawaii or the lighter color one's which will make the pool look clear kinda like your bath tub

I personally like a darker bottom because it looks cool, but the downside is that you can see the white seams in the liner. I of course had no choice whatsoever, the wife picked a lighter colored liner. My builder had just installed a pool with the same liner that my wife picked so we went to their house and looked at it. The wife loved it so that was it.

Salt corrosion is a major issue, in my builder's opinion, but for some reason I want to disregard his advice and still get the SWCG.

I used to put salt on my back cement patio so that we wouldn't get ice between the door and the hot tub, and very quickly the salt pitted the cement and took big chunks out of it. I have no idea if the salt from the pool could do the same damage but I think it's reason to be concerned.

I agree, I love the darker liner. I think the one my wife picked falls somewhere in between those two photos.

I have two Shear Descents. There is no metal in them - its all plastic. Other than a ladder in the pool (not too common on IG pools anymore), what is going to corrode? The current/new model pool lights are designed to withstand SWG pools. Perhaps the builder is referring to seeing corrosion on older pools that were converted to salt systems or AG pools.

As for the maintance side. SWG makes life of a pool owner more simple and less expensive as for chemical buying?

    True?
