I have a Jacuzzi Sherlok200 filter. Pool startup occurred on June 8. Filter ran 24/7 for 10 days per builder's instructions. At startup it ran at 20psi.
Turnover of the pool to me was on June 29. The filter was at 30 psi on the day of turnover so I made the pool guy clean it to show me how. He took it out, hosed it down and got ALOT of rocks, dirt and stuff. When he reloaded the filter it was running at approximately 25 psi.
Checked today and it is back up to 30 psi. I need to clean it more thoroughly don't I? Supposedly 10 psi over startup pressure is the rule according to my builder's pool guy. So I called them, they said the following:
Builder says muriatic acid - 1 cup in 10 gallons of water, soak for 30 minutes or till it stops bubbling.
Pool store (just thought I'd ask - said a cleaner because acid will clean off plaster dust but not oils, lotions, etc.) and acid will reduce the life of the filter, plus it's "dangerous".
What cleaning method do you recommend if you have a cartridge filter? I'm doing BBB method so I would like to stay true to the practices in line with that if there are any.
I'd like to tackle this first thing in the morning as I don't want the filter running at this level any longer. Thank you.
