    Default Black algae

    Hi,

I noticed I am developing black algae in the small chips in my gunite pool. It seem to mainly be on the edges of the stairs and swim out areas. I'm in TX so the water heats up quite a bit. I've tried intense brushing but have been hesitant to use chemicals recommended by the local pool shop since they never seem to work.

Any suggestions of how to get rid of this.

    Thanks
    John

    Default Black Algea

I've had the same problem, usually when I get lax in keeping my cl level where it shoudl be. I bought a wire brush from the pool store. It gets the job done, but I have no idea if it is the best solution or how hard it is on the plaster. I try to use it just on the black algea itself. I don't know if there is a chemical solution that actually works.
