Default Connect regular PVC fittings to eyeball return in pool?

Is there a conversion fitting that allows connection of regular PVC pipe fittings to the eyeball returns in the side of a plaster pool? I'm doing the alkalinity adjustment thing and it would go quicker with more fountains. I could make a makeshift fountain from PVC pipe if there were a way to connect it to the eyeball fittings. It would go even faster with a venturi.

Yes. First you have to unscrew the "base" to the eyeball. It is a male thread screwed into standard 1.5"pvc threads.

Take off the eyeball cover, remove the eyeball, and you will find two "slots" inside the eyeball base. Pool stores sell a cheap plastic "key" that will fit into the slots and then you can turn the base out of the pvc pipe

Doing a search I found this one. Are these fittings somewhat universal?

Looks like it would work. It also looks like it would take a 3/8 " socket drive (but I wouldn't submerge my socket drive, though if the pool were partially drained for winterizing, it'd be really cool) The one I've always used is Hayward's SP 1419-T. Good luck with the airation!

I made one from a piece of aluminum plate with a thickness a little less than the notch width. Slip it in the notches and turn. Just a simple plate of the right width and thickness.

    Thanks,

Got the pool store to order a Hayward, they were surprised there even -was- a tool for this.

I might also use the Polaris port and its booster pump to run a venturi next time. The previous owner left some parts, one of which is an extra Polaris quick-connector. Piece of tubing from the quick-connector to the venturi and it should make a good cloud of bubbles.
