Hi Dan

Have you negotiated your way to read through some previous conversions under the Baquacil/Softswim section

You are going to go throught a lot of liquid chlorine. Any early decision needs to be made to use laundry strength bleach or go to a pool store and lug less than half of the gallons. Pool store liquid bulk chlorine is about 12% and laundry bleach is 5.25 or 6%. Don't even look at the cut rate 3 1/4%.
The pool store stuff has short shelf life and if the turnover at the pool store is not pretty brisk, and the storage conditions are cool and out of sunlight ... it will decay down from the 12% pretty fast so you may not get your moneys worth.
It's hard to beat Walmarts prices.

You could need something horrendous like 50 or 60 gallons of 6% depending on your pool size. You might negotiate a deal for a skid.

After you get that huge effort behind you, you will see a huge drop in your costs to run you pool.

What kind of filter do you have ?
What is your pool size ?
What kind of pool is it - concrete/plaster, vinyl lined.
Any metals in the water ?

We had a huge loss of old postings and stories on this forum with a computer crash about 6 months back so you cannot see the stories and pictures of the dozens and dozens of folks that have made the same decision as you. They all need several days of encouragement, but then reported comments like...
my water has never felt so good and looked so perfectly clear.

Lots of folks here have helped lots of others through the conversion. It's not something I've done myself but this will get you going.

Good luck
