Default Can I use this with SWG to shock?

We had our first, and fantastically fun, pool party for the Fourth yesterday! At any given time there were 10 or more people in the pool, ranging from 1 to 76! I tested my water after it was over last night and my FC was 4.5 and CC 0.(had the SWG on boost for half of the party as recommended by builder). Is it necessary to shock the pool with these numbers? My builder had me chlorinate the pool with cal hypo shock before the SWG was functioning and I have some packets left.
If I should shock can I just pour the bags in the skimmer or is plain bleach better with the SWG? I figure since I have the cal hypo I'd use it up, but I don't want to mess up my water chemistry or damage my equipment.

It is my understanding that if you have a CC of 0, then there is nothing bad in the pool for the chlorine to act on and therefore no shock (or any other action) is needed.

I don't see any reason to shock it, unless you just want to. But in answer to your question, you can shock with cal-hypo, as long as your Ca numbers aren't too high.

Your pool looks fantastic!! Glad you had a good time......

I didn't think I needed to but I have read on here of some people who do it after every high bather load whether it needs it or not.
Thanks for the info and the compliment! At the end of July we'll be getting a new paver patio and landscaping around the pool-then we're broke!

Hello this is off subject but where did you get your pool fence. Did you install it yourself?

It's a black vinyl coated chain link installed by a local fence co.
