what to do w/ these numbers?

Here are my numbers from this morning:

TC - 3
PH - 7.2
ALK - 280
Hardness - 410
CYA - didn't register, water wasn't cloudy, black dot never disappeared

We used muriatic acid twice yesterday (1 cup each about 5 hours apart) and aerated with our return pointed on top of the water. Nothing changed with my alk and/or PH numbers. They are the same as when I first tested my water 2 days ago.

My hardness was at 480 when I first tested (water was dark red/purple when I put the indicator in and turned to a blue/purple when I hit 48 drops). Today, the water turned just a super light shade of reddish/orange when I put the indicator in and it turned GREEN (not blue) when I hit 41 drops. Is this weird?

Do I need to do anything at this point? I imagine I should bring that alkalinity down, but shouldn't I have seen SOME change after the 2 initial doses of acid followed by aeration? I guess since the PH isn't coming down, the aeration probably wasn't doing anything, right?

Not sure that it matters, but my water temp is 70 degrees.

Are you actually getting some ripples on the top of the water? Maybe there are some kids that can come over and jump in/out to help?

Don't know how many gallons your pool holds, but with a TA of 280, it's liable to take much more than a cup of acid to move your pH, and lowering the TA isn't an instant process. You need to add enough acid to lower your pH, then start aerating.

Pool is about 10,000 gallons. I will up the acid and see if that helps any. Thanks.

Get the Alk #s down and keep an eye on your PH. I would go slow and keep testing. I think the Cal is a little high but I think that can wait until you get the Alk in the normal range .
