I am into auto detailing and use the protectant. It is great for use on dashboards and protecting interior items from the sun while leaving a nice finish but I wouldn't go as far as saying that it would be beneficial on the vinyl liner. From my past experiences it runs when it gets wet on some surfaces so I just don't think that it is worth it and don't want to introduce it to the water. I did though put it on my new plastic mailbox when I first set it up
