Hello,

I have been taking care of my elderly neighbors gunite pool since his wife passed many years ago. I have been doing all the regular maintenance stuff but this year we had some tiles pop off. Well after researching, I realized that the pool needs to be re-caulked. We had someone out and it will cost around $700. I asked how much if I did the removal and he said $500. My neighbor is on a tight budget due to medications so I figured I would try to save him the $200 by doing it myself (really, just how hard should it be to remove old caulk-yeah, right!!!)

I have read through some of the "caulk" threads but I haven't come across the magical answer that I need (or maybe there isn't one!!). Is there an easy way to get the caulk residue off the concrete??? I am almost to the point that I will pay the extra $200 to have someone else do it. I thought maybe a metal wire wheel on a drill but that might "gunck" up the caulk even more. I have been cutting and scraping it out with a utility knife. If anyone has any suggestions to make this process easier I (and my neighbor) would surely appreciate it. Thanks, Kim
