Question Baquacil in a hot tub

Hi! Please bear with me. I bought a used portable hot tub. It is a couple years old, and supposedly only used for one year. The owner has offered me to take the chemicals he has left over as well. Apparently, he has quite a lot of Baquacil.

The heater in this hot tub is shorting out the system. We took it apart. The element is badly corroded. We ordered a new element (has not come in yet)

My question is: is this in some way related to using Baquacil in the hot tub? Is Baquacil a standard product for this application? Is it better to continue with what the hot tub is "used to" and of course, I do have a free supply coming to me if I want it.

Use it or don't use it? THX much
Is this where I admit I have a 18X36 Frankenpool? It will be vinyl lined, with no main drain when it's done. In the meantime, we are still trying to figure out the concrete work, pump, filter and all the other fun stuff that comes with a total/complete renovation.
