I installed the heat pump myself

Except for the 220 line, I had an electrician do that. The toughest part for me was moving the unit into position. It weighs about 350 lbs and all the weight is at the bottom. I slid the hand truck under it and pulled but it wasn't easy to get it tilted and under control, not to mention up the little hill I needed to travel. The next part was making the pipe system for the filter. I replaced the multiport at this time also. Since this was a retrofit to an existing pool, planning it into the same space was a bit tough. Adding one component, the backflow valve, made the run between the pool return and the heater a little tight. Instead of making a bypass for the heater I decided to use flex pipe and an additional union. This saved the few inches an additional valve would take up. I can disconnect the input from the heater and connect it to the backflow valve which is after the heater if I need to bypass it. Flex pipe can be convienient. i purchased the Hayward Heat Pro 210002 unit. About 116000 btu. Cost was-

The electrician soaked me for $800. Pool pipes and parts was probably $100, for about $3700 I was all done. Maybe I should include the cost of the solar cover too. The reel was about $350 and the cover was $139. I got the M500 reel and my first impression was very positive.
I didn't include price of the multiport since I didn't need to replace it, just figured what the heck.
I ran the system for about 10 hours a day for 2 days and the temp went from 73 to a comfortable 84, we are going to push it some more tommorow.
I would recomend poolhub.com if you are shopping for stuff. Everything went very smoothly. Rich was very helpfull with a couple of issues that arose.
He got the m500 reel even though it wasn't listed at his website and for a lower price.
I'd like to also thank those members here that helped me find my way around some issues that cropped up. Remember- no man is an island and you should never swim alone.
