Default 1st Timer 234 kit results

    Here's my results........

    FC 4
    CC 2
    TC 5
    PH 7.2
    Alk 60
    Cal 50
    Cya 80

    18,000 gal IG vinyl.
Been using pucks in the Hayward Chlorinator. My chlorinator malfunctioned, end result was super chlorination and high CYA. I have since converted to liquid bleach.

    Water looks great.

FC + CC = TC so, something is not quite right with your cl numbers. My guess is that your CC is 1 instead of 2. You need to shock your pool. With a cya of 80, you should shock up to 20 ppm and try and get rid of that CC reading. Then, you should maintain your cl between 5-10 all the time. No more pucks. Your alk is a little low. Try adding a lb. of baking soda slowly to the skimmer. Wait awhile, then retest and redose til you get to 80-120. Your ph is OK at 7.2, but you don't want it any lower. If it drops any, add some Borax to get it back up to 7.4-7.6. Calcium level is irrelevent in a vinyl pool. Hope this helps. Welcome to the forum.

I'll bet that 5 TC value is from the OTO test, while FC and CC are the results of the FAS/DPD. Thats pretty commonplace for newbies on the forum.

    Thanks!
That's correct I determined the 5 from the color chart on the OTO test.
I'll proceed with the shock,pH and alkalinity adjustments and post the latest numbers.
    Great forum!
I'm done with the pool store tests!
