Default Should I install SWG myself???

Newbie question here!! We are pricing new FG pools from several installers. When we ask about upgrading to a SWG, they all quote a price of $1300-$1500 additional. I have seen many systems on the internet for half that price. Should I let them go ahead and install it, or should I do it myself? I have a lot of electrical experience and my brother-in-law is a plumber. I think I can do it myself, but my wife is not to confident

I'm also seeing the same for pool cleaners!! I have seen quotes from $900-$1200?????

We are owner/builders and did the final plumbing ourselves. We put a Goldline Aquarite on our pool but haven't started it up yet, we just filled a week ago today.

We also installed the Intellitouch i7 and linked it to that as well. We can't yet say how well the chlorine generator works as we haven't turned it on but so far everything else we did seems to be working quite well.

If you feel confident in your ability to do this then go ahead. But if you do something wrong and ruin the hardware you get to back your own work and that can be expensive. So my answer would be it depends on your skill level and comfort with that type of project.

I had my SWCG (Autopilot) before the pool was installed. Talked to the installation crew and they plumbed the manifold in for me. The PB wired everything but the Autopilot, which I did. No extra cost.

I'd say go ahead and do it yourself BUT I would make sure that initally the piping is set up with the SWG in mind.

I would have liked to put my flow switch in line with the pool only piping so the SWG doesn't operate when I'm only using my spa, but my piping wasn't set up well for this.
