Thumbs down New Pebble finish calcium hardness

We refinished our 23,000 gal,in ground pool with Pebble Sheen which is 30 days old. I took water to pool supply yesterday 6/27/06

    Pool supply test: My test:6/28/06
    Temp 88 Temp 82
    Saturation -.4 Satiratopm-.06
TDS 200 (what is this test?)
    CYA 64 Cya 40
Tot Chlorine 2.8 Total Chlorine 3.5
Free Chlorine 2.8 Free Chlorine 3.5
    pH 7.6 pH 7.6
    TA 100 TA 110
Adj Total Alk 81 (what is adj alk?)
Calcium Hardness 75 Calcium hardness 70

Should I take the Calcium Hardness up to 100 - 150? Pool Supply wanted to wait on Hardness, but add 22# of soda and then acid. I have done nothing yet.

    Welcome to the forum.

You were wise in holding off, because apart from the Calcium Hardness, YOUR figures look much better.

One would feel tempted add calcium chloride to bring this up, but the pool will do it for you. You are probably still brushing and this should help to bring the CH up from what is being leached from the sides and bottom.

With the new pool, it is recommended to keep the pH down to 7.2 to 7.4 to help hasten the Pebblesheen setting.

Have fun with your pool, and let us know if you have more questions.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I will bring the calcium up and lower the pH. I am still brushing and for ten days the calcium has not changed. I will go slow with the calcuim. Thank again.

You might consider Cal Hypo for your chlorine source. It will add Ca to the pool...somewhat slowly. I raised mine 100ppm but it has taken around 50 days. It's a convenient source for Cl IF you need some Ca as well.
